Reijmyre Glassworks – A Swedish Glass Heritage Since 1810. Deep in the forests of Östergötland, in the municipality of Finspång, lies Reijmyre – a small locality with a great history. Here in 1810, a glassworks was founded that would become one of Sweden's oldest still active – Reijmyre Glassworks.

Behind the establishment stood Baron Mattias Alexander von Ungern-Sternberg, who, in collaboration with skilled glassblowers from Bohemia and Germany, wanted to create a Swedish craft center for exclusive glass. The dense forest in the area offered abundant access to wood for the furnaces, and the proximity to water was perfect for transport and operations – ideal for a glassworks.

During the 19th century, Reijmyre developed into an important player in Swedish glass production. Everything from magnificent glasses and decanters to technically advanced laboratory glass was produced. The glassworks was known for its high quality and elegant shapes – craftsmanship that combined tradition with innovative design.

During the 20th century, collaborations began with several prominent designers, further enhancing Reijmyre's reputation. The glassworks became a place where art met function, where every glass item carries a story of care, skill, and beauty.

Even today, Reijmyre Glassworks is in operation – over 200 years after its founding. In a time of mass production, the works remain faithful to craftsmanship. All glass is still hand-blown by skilled glassblowers in the workshop. Visitors can see the work up close and experience how molten glass is shaped into beautiful objects – just as it was two centuries ago.

Reijmyre is not just a glassworks, but a living cultural heritage – a piece of Swedish industrial history that continues to shine through its crystal-clear creations.
