The history of Brasserie d’Achouffe began in 1982, when brothers-in-law Pierre Gobron and Chris Bauweraerts started brewing beer as a hobby. What began on a small scale quickly developed into a successful brewery, and over time La Chouffe became known far beyond Belgium’s borders. Today, the brewery’s beers are appreciated around the world for their distinctive Belgian character and playful identity.
The figure featured on the brewery’s labels and glasses is often mistaken for a traditional garden gnome. According to Brasserie d’Achouffe, however, it represents a little gnome – a chouffe – inspired by stories and legends from the Ardennes. The gnome has become an integral part of the brewery’s identity and also appears on the front of this beer glass.
The glass holds 33 cl and has the classic tulip shape often associated with Belgian speciality beers. The rounded bowl provides plenty of room for the beer’s aromas and foam head, while the narrowing rim helps concentrate the aromas. An ideal glass for La Chouffe and other flavourful Belgian ales.
